How to use it
What is the Pomodoro Technique?
It is a simple way to stay focused. You work for 25 minutes, then take a 5 minute break. After 4 focus sessions you take a longer 15 minute break. The short cycles help your brain stay fresh.
Do I need to make an account?
No. Open the page and hit Start. Nothing is saved to a server.
Can I change the times?
Yes. Open Settings above and set your own focus, short break, and long break minutes. You can also change how many focus sessions make one round.
Will the timer keep running if I switch tabs?
Yes. The timer keeps running in the background. The tab title shows the countdown so you can peek without coming back.
Why a chime instead of a loud alarm?
A soft chime is enough to break your focus without scaring you. You can turn the sound off in Settings.
What are the background sounds?
You can mix any combination of real recorded ambient sounds, like rain, ocean waves, forest birds, a stream, a campfire, a coffee shop, or a thunderstorm. There is also brown noise (a warm low rumble many people find great for focus) and three soft music options. Pick one or layer several, set the volume, and they keep playing while the timer runs. Real nature sounds are from Mixkit under their free license.
